About Me

and why I am committed to supporting You

Hi! I’m Lisa Quinney—a mama, a wife, a creative, and a counsellor. My children are 9 and 12, one born in Germany, the other here on Wadawurrung Country (Geelong).

When I had my second child, I got unwell.

I struggled with postnatal depression, anxiety, and PTSD symptoms—but I didn’t receive the help I needed at the time. It took six years to get a diagnosis. Six years of wondering if I was just “not good enough” at being a mum.

I now know it wasn’t me. I wasn't "defective" or somehow "broken". It was the system.

Mothers are set up to burn out under impossible expectations. We are told to give endlessly, to push through exhaustion, to silence our anger, and to put everyone else first—at the cost of our own wellbeing.

At my breaking point, I found myself in stillness.

In that quiet space, I reconnected with my true self and began to heal. I started seeing all the things that weren’t supportive of me or the life I wanted to live. And instead of accepting them, I began to question them.

A strong belief that I deserved a life that felt better kept me going—on a pursuit to find answers, to heal, and to step into a version of motherhood that felt true to me.

I literally started healing through self-love, creative expression, and reclaimed power. A simple meditation started my healing journey. Daily small acts of self-love grew into taking bigger steps, asking for more, and reclaiming my power. I did this through partswork and creative journaling and deep self-inquiry.

Now, I want to share what I’ve found along the way.

I help mums break free from the pressure cooker of modern motherhood and reclaim it for themselves. I create spaces where we can breathe, unlearn the “shoulds,” and reconnect with our inner strength. Where we can push back on unattainable standards and choose what truly nourishes us.

I support women in seeing their part, reclaiming their boundaries, and expressing needs with compassion — not resentment.
I honour their exhaustion and frustration without making their partner the enemy.
I model what it means to return to self-love, clarity, and responsibility — from a place of wholeness.

I know how impossible it can feel to put yourself first. And I also know that you deserve support as you rediscover who you are—not just as a mother, but as a whole person.

You might be...

  • feeling anxious, uneasy or restless often.

  • feeling stressed and tired most of the time and don't know how to change that. When you do get rest, you seem to be unable to unwind.

  • noticing yourself snapping at the people around you and feel anger or rage often and don't know how to control this.

  • experiencing overwhelming sadness or grief and want to learn how to cope with this.

  • feeling stuck or lost.

  • feelings of shame and guilt about how you react sometimes.

  • experiencing a lost sense of self.

  • feeling "not good enough", "worthless" or "like a failure".

  • feeling flat, unhappy, discontent or numb often.

  • experiencing dysfunctional relationships or relationship issues (within your family, romantic relationship, friendships).

Motherhood was never meant to feel like a constant battle between who you are and who the world expects you to be. I help mothers strip back the layers of conditioning that keep them stuck in guilt, self-doubt, and exhaustion—so they can step into a version of motherhood that feels deeply true, expansive, and fulfilling. My approach combines partswork, creative journaling, nervous system regulation, and deep self-inquiry, guiding you to reconnect with your inner wisdom, release suppressed emotions, and reclaim your power. You don’t have to carry the weight of impossible expectations. You don’t have to keep quiet, shrink yourself, or lose who you are. You get to create a life and motherhood experience that feels good to you—and I’m here to help you do just that.

If you want to start walking down the path of healing, here are some ways I can support you:

I work with a person-centred and trauma-informed approach and focus on humanistic therapies, using evidence based techniques and tools from

  • Partswork, inspired by IFS (Internal Family Systems model)

  • Mindfulness Therapy, like meditations and breathing exercises

  • Expressive Therapies, like creative journaling

I have combined these modalities into a unique therapeutic approach that fosters self-confidence, self-compassion and healing.

How I can help

You don’t have to stay stuck in a version of motherhood that feels constricting, exhausting, or untrue to who you are. You don’t have to carry the weight of impossible expectations or silence parts of yourself just to fit into a mold that was never meant for you.

I’m here to help you unlearn the "shoulds," reconnect with your true self, and reclaim your power—so you can breathe freely and create a life that feels deeply aligned with who you are.

Through my work, I offer:

  • 1:1 Counselling for Mothers – A safe, compassionate space to explore what’s holding you back, process emotions, and reconnect with your inner wisdom. Using a trauma-informed approach, I integrate IFS therapy, mindfulness, and self-compassion practices to support your healing and growth.

  • The Circle for Mums – Unwinding with Art & Sisterhood – A creative and deeply nurturing space where you can express yourself through journaling, art, and conversation. These small group gatherings allow you to be truly seen and supported by like-minded mothers.

  • Workshops & Talks – Powerful sessions on topics like mum rage, self-trust, and breaking free from societal conditioning, helping you shift your mindset and embrace a more authentic motherhood.

  • Walk & Talk Therapy – Because sometimes healing happens best when we’re moving. If you find traditional therapy settings too rigid, we can take our sessions outdoors, walking side by side in nature.

This is your invitation to step into a new way of being—one where you are centered, whole, and free.

Are you ready?

Let’s begin.
